Information about making an appointment:

  • log into the schedule

  • select an open white block of time that works for you

  • fill out the form to schedule an appointment

  • If you are making an e-tutoring or live-online appointment, please attach a plain Word doc or provide an “Shareable” google doc right to your appointment block for your tutor

  • click submit to complete the appointment

  • Re-open the appointment just to double-check that your documents attached and you are all set

  • If you choose a "Live Online" tutoring session, you'll need to log back into the schedule a couple of minutes prior to the start of you session, using the "join online consultation" option that will appear after the initial appointment has been made. But to see it, you'll have to re-open the appointment block. It looks like this:

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us.

We have three tutoring options:

Face-to-Face: meet with a tutor during your appointment time in the Writing Center, located 308 Thompson library, just past the circulation desk on the back wall.

E-tutoring: an asynchronous, meaning you won't get to talk with a tutor. You upload a plain Word doc, or sharable with link Google doc to your appointment time, and the tutor will use the Word or Google doc comment feature to provide feedback. There are options in the appointment form for uploading your paper or Google doc link. Once finished, the tutor will upload it back to your appointment if it's a Word doc, or you can see their feedback in your Google doc after your appointment is finished.

Or, "Live-Online”: Our scheduling system allows for synchronous web-based video chat. After you've made your appointment and uploaded your documents, you can re-open the appointment a couple of minutes before your appointment time begins, and click "Join Session," and talk live with a tutor during your appointment time.

Our page range protocol is 0-4 pages, 25 minutes, 5-9 pages 55 minutes, and over 10+ pages will require additional appointments. We reserve the last five minutes of each session for tutors to fill out client report forms and confirmation slips if needed.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Best,

Writing Center Staff
